(current news)
The Bob Marley Foundation
is pleased to share some of our accomplishments and ventures with
you all. It has been a great challenge for us to get up and running,
but after just a few short months we have done some progressive
projects we can all feel proud about:
GRANTS
We recently established the Bob Marley Foundation Music
Scholarship at Florida
A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida. This scholarship
gives financial assistance to a student who is in good academic
standing, and is committed to strengthening communities through
music and education.
We have also given grants to several other worthy organizations
including:
Mustard
Seed Mary’s Child Teenage Home
Stepney Basic School
Rhoden Hall School
Our joy came to a high when we were contacted by the Shashamane
Basic School in Ethiopia.
LETTERS
Giving grants is important, but equally significant are other
types of support. For instance, we got several letters from parents
of children who either made great accomplishments in school, or
were successful in an organization or sadly had been through hard
times. They asked us to send letters to congratulate or lift their
children’s spirits. It is very humbling for us to know a
letter from the Bob Marley Foundation can be worth so much to
so many. While we cannot respond to everyone we assure you, we
read every e-mail. And we give thanks for every correspondence
you send.
SUCCESSFUL AUCTION
Support has also come from generous donors that contributed to
the E-Bay auction held earlier during Bob Marley’s birthday
in February. Nana Gannette “Rita” Marley, Cedella
Marley - Minto, Ziggy Marley, Chris Blackwell, Bob Marley Music,
Catch A Fire, Gibson Guitar, and Zion Roots Wear. We are so thankful
for their support and look forward to our next auction planned
in November 2004. Keep checking our website for updates on the
auction. The items are hot, rare and worth more than gold!
THANK YOU
We want to thank you all for your great support and all your letters
sharing your experiences with Bob, or how his music affected your
life or about projects in your part of the world. We look forward
to you sharing more experiences with us and encourage you to send
us news and volunteer to write for our monthly newsletter. Give
thanks and remember ...

alright...” ~ Bob Marley
