The Bob Marley Foundation continues to respond to the cry for help from our nation’s medical institutions with donations of much needed equipment. Equipment including ventilators, oximeters, fetal and maternal monitors, ultrasound systems and blood pressure machines have been made to the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, Victoria Jubilee Maternity Hospital, Bustamante Hospital for Children and the Women’s Health Network among others.
Our Marley for Health programme continues to stand with our nation’s frontline workers as they bravely tend to the Covid-19 pandemic. The foundation gave full support to the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports’ Covid-19 Fundraising Telethon, in April 2020, with performances from the Marley family, cash donations to the Ministry of Health, and donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and medical equipment used by hospitals to save lives.
The Bob Marley Foundation, in partnership with Integrative Clinics International, hosts three annual health fairs: two in Nine Mile, St. Ann (Bob Marley’s birthplace), and one at Tuff Gong International for Kingston communities including Trench Town, Denham Town, Boys’ Town and Arnett Gardens. The Integrative Clinics International group of medical practitioners visit Jamaica every year with the mission of improving healthcare in under-served communities. Services provided include: medical examinations, dental care, eye examination, ear screening, sexually transmitted disease testing, mobile pharmacy and home visits to elders who are unable to visit the clinic.
The health fair has successfully administered medical care to over 2000 people in Jamaica.
